India High-Rise Elevator Incident Injures Three

A lift in a high rise in Sector 137 in Noida, India, shot upward into the top floor of the building after its brakes failed on May 12, and three people were injured during the incident, The Indian Express reports. According to officials, the lift was on the fourth floor but ascended rapidly to the 25th floor during the incident. The roof of the tower was damaged due to the impact. “Due to a technical fault, the lift came down with a jerk and went upward. All the people in the lift were taken out safely. The police force along with the station-in-charge was present at the spot,” police said in a statement.
