India Railway Station Redevelopment Nearly 50% Complete

Redevelopment of the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corp. (MRVC) Ghatkopar Railway Station, a key suburban Mumbai, India, metro hub, is nearly 50% complete, The Free Press Journal reports. The first phase, which included installation of seven new escalators, had only finishing touches remaining, with the second phase, including seven new escalators and four elevators, already underway. Full completion is expected in April 2027, marking a “safer, more efficient and accessible station for Mumbai’s growing number of daily commuters.” Ghatkopar Railway Station sees more than 400,000 daily commuters and serves as an interchange for both Central Railway and the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro line.
