India Recommends Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese Elevator Parts

India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has recommended imposing an anti-dumping duty for five years on T-shaped elevator guide rails and counterweight guide rails imported from China, Rediff is among outlets to report. The commerce ministry’s investigative arm found the parts have been exported to India “at a price below the normal value, resulting in dumping.” DGTR recommended a duty of between 24.11% and 51.87%, but the finance industry will have the final say. The duty is aimed at creating a level playing field for domestic manufacturers under the regime of the World Trade Organization. India has already imposed duties on several products to counter cheap imports from countries including China.
