Indiana Elevator Project Delayed

The US$250,000 elevator project in the former German American Bank building in Washington, Indiana, is one door short of being complete: The project is behind schedule due to delays in receiving the door to the machine room, the Washington Times Herald reports. The five-story building, which is the tallest in downtown, has a number of tenants on the upper floors. The Daviess County Economic Development Corporation owns the building, and officials say the elevator is part of an effort to keep the historic building viable. After the completion of the elevator project, cosmetic upgrades will begin. While waiting on the door, talks are underway about getting the necessary inspections by the Office of Homeland Security completed and the possibility of a preliminary inspection. Right now, there is no timetable on when the machine room door will be installed and the elevator put into service.
