On June 8, Israel will inaugurate an elevator at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, Palestine, ANI is among outlets to report. One of Israel’s most visited religious sites, the tomb was previously reachable only by a series of steps. After 30 years of legal and political battles, the project was approved by the High Court of Justice in November 2021. The accessibility improvements, totaling US$1.6 million, include a sloped path linking the parking area to the tomb, an elevator and an enclosed footbridge connecting the elevator to the entrance of the ancient holy site.
