Istanbul Tower Set to Welcome Visitors

Melike Altınışık Architects, designer of a recently completed telecommunications antenna and observation deck in Istanbul, has released new images of the striking tower, Designboom reported in March. The designers say they wanted to impart a sense of motion within its silhouette in a view that changes when seen from different perspectives across the city. From inside the structure’s upper levels, visitors can see Asia and Europe. 3TEK consulted on the vertical-transportation system, which includes two Schindler panoramic lifts along both sides of the building. The interior offers a range of occupiable spaces, including a two-story restaurant plus a public foyer with a café and exhibition and media areas inside the entrance podium. The 1,210-ft-tall TV and radio tower is expected to open its observation deck and restaurant in late spring.
