Kedecia Johnson has been promoted from helper to mechanic at Pride & Service Elevator, an American Elevator Group (AEG) company with locations in New York and New Jersey, AEG recently announced. Serving Midtown Manhattan as a maintenance mechanic, Johnson got her start in the industry through the Non-Traditional Employment for Women program. Prior to that, she worked as a security officer at a commercial building served by more than 26 elevators and two escalators. It was there she drew inspiration from the resident elevator mechanic, who is female and recommended Johnson to the training program.
