KONE India unveiled an “engineering marvel”: the world’s largest passenger elevator, during a press conference at Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex on May 5. Covering a floor area of nearly 26 m2, the 16-mT, five-stop elevator is one of 188 elevators and escalators serving Jio World Centre, a new “landmark business and cultural destination.” Observing that KONE India prides itself on providing custom-built solutions for unique projects, KONE India Managing Director Amit Gossain said a global team of experts collaborated to deliver “this most challenging and complex project.” KONE India was also the title sponsor of the Green Pavilion at the IDAC Expo going on at the same time at Jio World Centre. There, it showcased energy-efficient solutions including regenerative drives, standby operation and KONE UltraRope® high-rise hoisting technology; touchless signalization for car operating panels and landing call stations and QR-code-based elevator call features; KONE 24/7 Connected Services that implements AI for intelligent predictive maintenance; elevator-integrated service robots; and the KONE DX Series of elevators.
