KONE announced on June 22 it won three prestigious Red Dot Awards in the Product Design 2022 Competition for a series of elevator interiors inspired by Indian culture, a voice-operated call system and an energy-saving motor. Created in India, the KONE I Series of elevator interiors includes more than 30 designs “inspired by the age-old elements of earth, fire, water, air and space.” KONE I, along with the KONE KDS Home V voice-operated call system, were recognized in the Interior Design Elements category. Available in the Chinese market, KDS Home V allows an elevator to be operated with voice commands and was praised by Red Dot judges for providing a high level of comfort and being “elegant and smart.” In the Industrial Equipment, Machinery and Automation category, the Giant KONE GX Series of space-saving and sustainable motors for the Chinese market was honored. The series has been rated best-in-class for energy efficiency in China. KONE Head of Design Visa Rauta said this year’s awards are “an important recognition of the fantastic work being done by our design teams in Asia.”
