Waukegan, Illinois-based Lakeland Elevator has been awarded a contract to replace the elevator at the city’s water plant, Lake County Gazette reports. The City Council accepted the company’s bid, which will not exceed US$749,797, during its meeting on October 16. Lakeland Elevator was the only bidder on the contract. The company’s proposal covers all labor, materials, testing and engineering and will include demolition of the existing elevator and equipment, masonry work, electrical work, fire alarm and detection systems, shaft and door opening preparation, lead paint removal, painting and patching. The funds for the elevator replacement project will come from the city’s fiscal year 2023 budget and work is expected to begin soon.
