The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) led a group of member companies to the House of Commons, Westminster, on July 12 to explain the incredible role the industry continues to play and to convey how lifting is everywhere – in any sector and all corners of the world and involving every kind of project. LEEA CEO Ross Moloney and LEEA Chair Kat Moss welcomed a group of members of parliament from across the U.K. for the Parliamentary Event, where table-top displays were hosted by LEEA member companies and organizations DLM, Crosby, Rigging Services, Nucleus Learning and The White Ensign Group. LEEA was also represented by Derek Buck to explain the work of the association’s technical services and Member Engagement Manager Robert Wilson, who hosted the LEEA stand. Moss was able to explain the work of the LEEA Academy 2.0. LEEA’s key messages were on the importance of safety going forward and how this has been a focus of the organization for its almost 80-year history, as well as how the lifting industry is always innovating and developing technologies — including AI, virtual reality simulation, condition and load monitoring, remote control and anti-collision systems — to reduce risks from working at height. LEEA officials were also able to explain how they are focused on solving the challenge of the “industry’s future depending on finding the next generation of lifting engineers.”
