Netherlands-headquartered Liftinstituut, one of Europe’s leading certification organizations for lifts, escalator systems, sub-systems and components, welcomed Tijmen Molema back as a functional safety certification expert after a nearly five-year absence. Molema initially worked at Liftinstituut from 2014 to 2018, transitioning from trainee to product specialist. He then had stints as a research engineer and account engineer at Koninklijk Netherlands Meteorological Institute and Neways Industrial Systems, respectively. Stating he is happy to be back at Liftinstituut, Molema observed he “never really left,” stating he led online training for Liftinstituut during the COVID-19 pandemic and stayed in close contact with the group and the lift industry. “Nowadays, we’re facing new challenges in [programmable electronic systems] combined with cybersecurity,” Molema said. “These challenges are immense, and have so much potential [to be overcome] if done right.”
