Man Found Dead In NYC Restaurant’s Elevator Shaft

A woman who tried to use an elevator at a restaurant in NYC’s Chinatown discovered a body jammed between the elevator car and its hoistway wall, Latin Times reported on July 6. First responders called to the scene arrived to find a 28-year-old man between the first and second floors of the elevator shaft. Authorities had to cut through the wall to retrieve the body. Emergency responders arrived and declared the man dead at the scene. Upon finding damage at the roof of the hoistway, officials surmised that the victim had fallen onto the shaft, but the cause of his fall remained under investigation.
