Developers behind an apartment high-rise planned in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward have updated their design, calling for one less floor in height but 10 more units, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Houston-based Hines Acquisitions, LLC is planning the 31-story, 305-unit development, which is known as 333 N. Water. Its location will be on the Milwaukee River at North Water Street and East St. Paul Avenue. The additional units and reduced height were approved as the result of making the floors larger, according to principal spokespeople with Solomon Cordwell Buenz, the architectural firm. The tower received initial review board approvals in spring 2021 and Plan Commission approval in August 2021. The design includes 15,000 ft2 ground-level retail space and an eight-story parking structure. Units will range from studios to three bedrooms. Work on the US$140-million project is expected to begin this summer and take about 22 months to complete.
