Mombasa Elevator Construction Fatality

A man fell to his death while installing a new elevator in an under-construction building in Mombasa, Kenya, Construction Kenya reports. The middle-aged man was working on an 18-story building opposite Sauti House. He died at the scene while his colleague was able to jump from the lift and escaped. The incident was under investigation at the time of the report. While it is still unclear how and why the accident occurred, human rights officials believe the accident could have been prevented, indicating that negligence played a significant role in the victim’s death, the source reports. This fatality marked the third occurring in skyscraper construction in Mombasa in the past two years.
