Otis has connected its eCall Plus™ app in Monterrey, Mexico, making it the first Latin American city that gives passengers a contactless, intelligent solution to remotely call elevators, the company announces. Otis Mexico conducted the first regional demonstration of the system installed at Avalanz Tower, the fifth-tallest building in Monterrey and one of the most well-known skyscrapers in the area. The company says the technology helps create a touchless system, resulting in reduced passenger exposure to surface germs. In addition, eCall Plus can connect to Otis Gen2®, E322 and GECB elevators installed in Latin America. After a mechanic installs the necessary equipment for the eCall Plus system, a quick response (QR) code can be generated and shared with elevator passengers to quickly activate the app on their smart phones. Passengers can also download the app separately and scan the QR code to synchronize it with the elevators in the building. Once installed, eCall Plus is automatically activated via Bluetooth® or wireless technology as a system-using passenger approaches the elevator. The passenger clicks the “up” or “down” button on the app, then enters the elevator. There, they can select their destination floor with the app.
