Multiple People Killed, Injured in China Elevator Accident

Three people were killed, four were seriously injured and another 13 sustained minor injuries when an elevator plunged from the fourth floor to the first floor at a commercial complex in the city of Mile, located in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, Global Times is among outlets to report. First responders arrived at the scene of the accident, and local authorities carried out rescue work for the injured. The accident is under investigation and has drawn the attention of more than 100 million Chinese social media users, who have called for regular elevator maintenance to ensure safety.
