Mumbai Elevator Crash Claims Life

A 62-year-old woman died after being stuck in an elevator that collapsed in a residential building in Mumbai, India, NDTV is among outlets to report. The incident took place in a multi-story building in the Charkop area on October 21. After the woman entered the elevator on the fourth floor, it got stuck between the fourth and third floors, an official from the Charkop police station said. The woman shouted for help, and when her son tried to open the elevator door, he got an electric shock and switched off the power supply, the source reports. Later, when a security guard tried to open the elevator door, it crashed to the ground floor, the official said. The woman received serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Charkop police later registered an Accidental Death Report, the official added.
