The Mumbai Rail Vikas Corp. (MRVC) has proposed six foot overbridges (FOBs),14 escalators and four elevators for Ghatkopar station, Mumbai Live is among outlets to report. The new vertical-transportation (VT) equipment will address overcrowding and help to avoid stampede-like situations at the station, especially on the existing FOB that connects to Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro line 1. Three of the six new FOBs will run parallel to the existing east-west FOB. At 12-m wide, these bridges will provide ample room for commuters to traverse and create additional commercial space for the Central Railway. Another new FOB will run above platform 1, connecting all FOBs going east to west and joining the existing skywalk leading outside the station.
