NAEC Names Global Education/Safety and Development Heads

The National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) recently named David Smarte global education and safety officer and Shannon Bates national development officer. With more than 40 years’ industry experience, Smarte has served NAEC as a board member and chair of the Education and Safety committees. He is the 2016 recipient of the William C. Sturgeon Award of Excellence. Well-versed in code compliance, Smarte leads workplace safety strategies and training. He is trained in ASME, American National Standards Institute, OSHA and other state and federal safety regulations. Bates has more than 20 years’ experience in fundraising and nonprofit management. She has raised millions of dollars for organizations like The Ronald McDonald House, Union Mission and the American Cancer Society. Her professional passions include business strategy, networking, innovating, volunteering and managing staff.
