Nebraska Commissioners Hear Elevator Modernization Proposal

Elevator upgrades were the first topic of discussion on the agenda at a recent Kearney County Board of Commissioners regular meeting in Nebraska, the Minden Courier reports. Chris Kesterson from Schindler spoke to the board about necessary elevator updates, explaining that the elevator in the Kearney County courthouse is 30 years old and its controller is obsolete. Kesterson presented a proposal for modernization including a new controller, power unit, door equipment, code-related items required with the upgrade and fixtures. The elevator would be inaccessible for four weeks while the work is being done, and the project carries a hefty price tag. The board discussed solutions for continuing to provide access to services without a working elevator for the duration of the project. It was determined to be possible, but not ideal. Due to the nature and cost of the project cost, the board approved a motion to put the project out for bids rather than accept the presented proposal.
