To mark Elevator and Escalator Safety Week, held this year on November 13-17, the National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) is hosting a Safety Challenge on its website. Participants can take a short quiz about the safe use of vertical-transportation (VT) equipment for the chance to win a prize. The Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF) is raising safety awareness this week across its platforms and inviting others in the industry to join. Speaking to ELEVATOR WORLD, EESF Executive Director Amber Catlin-Kolodziej said, “Many of the tips that we abide by to keep our own families safe might not always be intuitive for those who are everyday, casual riders. Often, messages can get lost in the noise. However, with an entire week focused on safety, we can combine our voices and messages on the safe use of elevator, escalators and moving walkways.” She added, “If anyone wants to participate but isn’t sure how to get started, they can reach out to the EESF, and we will plug them right in!”
