New Elevator to Be Installed at Coryell Museum in Texas

The Coryell Museum and Historical Center, a museum of Texas history located in Gatesville, Texas, will soon close to the public for the installation of a new elevator, The Gatesville Messenger reports. According to museum board member Ray Ashby, “The reasons for getting a new elevator are many, but mainly because the current lift is old and outdated. If it were to break down, it would be impossible to find parts to repair it. If that were to happen, the museum would be out of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance and would have to shut down for a much longer period than we have planned for.” Ashby estimated that the elevator, to be installed by Home Elevator of Texas with Griffith Renovation and Construction in Evant handling the construction, will cost approximately US$125,000 and take three to four weeks to install. The new elevator, with installation set to begin in late February, will be larger and move at a faster speed than the previous unit.
