Two new sets of escalators have been unveiled at the upper level of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) in central Virginia, WHSV 3 is among outlets to report. According to the source, CHO spent US$2.5 million to fully replace the old escalators. A CHO Authority public notice from May 2021 said the work was awarded to Schindler. CHO spokesman Melinda Crawford tells WHSV 3 the escalators had not been replaced since the airport was built in the early 1990s, and that no flights were affected by the work. Next on CHO’s list of upgrades is a pair of parking pavilions, scheduled for completion by early November.
