North American Elevator, headquartered in Linden, New Jersey, and celebrating its 20th anniversary in April, is wrapping up a US$6.5-million elevator install at the 1.3 million-ft2 Bronx Logistics Center, a five-story industrial building in the Hunts Point area. The property was designed by ARCO Design/Build Industrial and developed by Turnbridge Equities, and construction completed in 2Q 2024. The installation consists of 10 elevators with Imperial gearless machines, four of which are high-speed 14,000-lb freight elevators using Imperial’s largest gearless units — the 900 Series. North American Elevator owner Tommy Curran worked alongside the ARCO Design/Build team, and the elevator project was delivered ahead of schedule by key players including lead Foreman Felix Gonzalez, Senior Project Manager Steven Penn and Project Manager Ravi Nandigan. Bronx Logistics Center boasts expansive warehouse floors accessed nearly 800 ft from one another through separate entrances and the greatest availability of parking in the market. Described by developers as “a new spec standard for NYC industrial development,” it is within a 5-min drive of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and a 20-min drive from the rest of NYC, Westchester and Long Island City.
