Ohio Commissioners Choose Financing for Elevator Addition

Defiance County commissioners in Ohio have chosen a financing option for the upcoming multimillion dollar courthouse elevator addition project designed by Beilharz Architects, The Crescent-News reports. The commissioners decided to go with the “direct placement” method, which would commit commissioners to a 15-year annual payment of US$323,000 at about 4.5% interest on US$3.5 million. However, commissioners may seek as much as US$4 million to cover other aspects of the project, such as design work. The elevator addition is expected to match the existing exterior architecture as much as possible and will include a remaking of the courthouse’s east entrance while providing space for a new elevator to replace the current one. Commissioners plan tentatively to open bids on July 11 with work beginning in late July or early August and completion in about one year’s time.
