Both of the elevators at the Richland County Administration Building/Courthouse in Mansfield, Ohio, are going to be fully functional after a complete modernization and repair of each, the Mansfield News Journal reports. On May 18, County commissioners approved a contract with TK Elevator (TKE) of Westerville, Ohio, to make the repairs and agreed to use US$641,281 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to pay for the work. Officials said the project will involve internal structural repairs, as well as the replacement of electrical panels. Additionally, the cabs will be updated with new panels, LED lighting and new flooring. It is expected to take nine months to procure materials and another three months each to repair the elevators. Before Thursday’s decision, commissioners approved a resolution to enter into a master intergovernmental cooperative purchase agreement with Equalis Group. The TKE contract was done through that program. TKE has already done some preliminary engineering work on the project. Work will start on the west elevator, which is not operating, with repairs to be done consecutively to keep accessibility to an elevator for all floors.
