Otis Brazil has been selected to modernize all four elevators at the historic Elevador Lacerda in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Elevador Lacerda is a public elevator and tourist attraction that carries passengers between Salvador’s upper city, Cidade Alta, and lower, seaside city, Cidade Baixa. The site celebrated its 150th anniversary on December 8. In addition to modernizing the elevators, Salvador City Hall, through its Municipal Mobility Department, will carry out a significant renovation of the Lacerda Elevator building. The modernization will bring new technology and aesthetics to the elevators, including automatic doors, LED lighting and the installation of an air conditioning system in all the cabins, which will also have granite floors, a brushed stainless steel subceiling, a modern voice system for communicating with passengers and new coverings for the side and back panels. The interior and floor buttons will have a new look with digital position and direction indicators.
