Otis’ Seattle team is installing six escalators for the expansion of the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, approximately 28 mi east of Seattle next to Snoqualmie Falls in King County, Washington. Otis tells ELEVATOR WORLD the units had to be flown in and lowered by crane due to the trusses weighing approximately 20,000 lbs each. The project involved some unique rigging, according to Otis. Key players on the Otis team include Scott Bradley, sales; Christine Byrd, project manager; Dan Eggers, superintendent; Roy Paquette and Brandon Wulff, lead mechanics; and Greg Sefcik, escalator national field support. The new escalators are part of a US$400-million expansion being undertaken by the Snoqualmie Tribe that will add a 10-story hotel, a destination spa, a 2,000-seat entertainment/convention center, 11,000 ft2 of additional gaming floor, a new parking structure and up to three new restaurants, according to the Daily Journal of Commerce. The complex originally opened in 2008 and the expansion is set to open to the public in 2025. Look for more about this exciting project soon in EW!
