Otis will provide 280 elevators and escalators for Tianjin Metro’s new Line 7, bringing the total number of Otis units at the China port city’s subway network to more than 1,800. The new Gen3™ elevators will be connected to the Otis ONE® Internet of Things (IoT)-based platform already used throughout the metro. With 11 stations, including transfer access to six main lines, Line 7 is set to become a major transit hub. Tianjin Metro is a critical part of China’s transportation network and has utilized Otis vertical-transportation (VT) equipment since opening in 1984. Otis China President Sally Loh commented that the project “reinforces Tianjin’s growth as a visionary smart city.”
