The Port San Antonio Board of Directors (BOD) in San Antonio, Texas, unanimously approved US$7.5 million to move its Innovation Tower project from its preliminary phase to the finalization of architectural plans, budget and schedule in March. The 11-story Innovation Tower will be a US$275-million office tower that will mark the next chapter in the development of the site of the former Kelly Air Force Base. The design phase is expected to take approximately one year, with a plan to break ground in 2026 and complete the state-of-the-art facility by 2028. In recent years, Port San Antonio has built the US$73-million Boeing Center at Tech Port, an ESports Arena and concert venue and two cybersecurity-focused office buildings. Port San Antonio’s Tech Port Campus, a 1,900-acre community project to also include high-end spa facilities, a large childcare facility, fitness center and a grocery store, was named the 2024 Outstanding Innovation District by the Association of University Research Parks.
