Fresh renderings of Bankside, a huge waterfront project under construction in Bronx, New York, were recently shown by 6sqft, Urbanize New York reported in September. The nearly US$1-billion development, which faces the Harlem River in the Mott Haven neighborhood, is expected to eventually comprise seven towers with 1,350 apartments — 30% of which would be affordable — on a 4.3-acre plot of land. The project, which is split into two phases, started with a parcel fronting Third Avenue, where a pair of 25-story buildings and a 17-story tower, which topped out in April, are rising from an eight-story podium. The first building, the 455-unit Third at Bankside, is slated to open for residents by the end of 2021. Four towers facing Lincoln Avenue will comprise the final phase, adding more than 900 apartments to the development. The project, developed by Brookfield Properties and designed by Hill West Architects, will be accompanied by roughly 34,000 ft2 of public open space, including a new waterfront park and esplanade.
