Repairs Planned for Footbridge Elevators In Cheboygan, Michigan

The City of Cheboygan’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is preparing to begin repairs on elevators in the pedestrian footbridge over the Cheboygan River to make them operational, the Cheboygan Daily Tribune reports. The repairs would fix water leakage in the elevator pits, which has been a concern for many years and has caused the elevators to stop working. The City of Cheboygan will send crews to pump the water out of the pits and a contractor from the DDA will then waterproof them. While a start date has not been set, the Cheboygan Main-Street Downtown Development Interim Director Katie Duczkowski believes work will begin sometime in early July.
