Rescuers Break Elevator Wall To Rescue Pair Near Miami

A team from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) department rushed to a tower in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, to rescue two people trapped inside an elevator, Fox News reports. The February 17 incident occurred when the elevator stalled at the tall building’s 37th floor. MDFR responded to the building at 160 Street and Collins Avenue, and the arriving rescuers soon realized that the shaft wall had to be broken open to pull the riders out. Officials posted photos showing the rescue team using hammers to break through the concrete and then using flashlights to find the two trapped riders. Once located, they were immediately removed, suffering no injuries. It was not immediately determined what caused the elevator to halt.
