Schindler Australia Pty. Ltd. recently celebrated the completion of a modernization of the Schindler 5500 AP lift serving the iconic Airport Control Tower in Sydney. The two-stop lift transports air traffic controllers from ground level to the top of the tower, covering a distance of 33 m. The lift car is air-conditioned for passenger comfort. Schindler observes the team had to overcome significant challenges at the noise-sensitive site, where 24-h operation is critical. Installation, including frosted-glass panels, was performed in the existing steel structure, and the project was delivered on time. Project team members include Steve Vo, Vincent Vo, Nicholas O’Keefe, Goran Cugalj and Jason Cooke.
