Schindler Designates National Elevate Day

Schindler announced today that it has established November 8 of each year as National Elevate Day. Officially recognized by the National Day Archives and also known as Elev-8 Day — a play on the date 11-8 — the new holiday is meant to honor the equipment that moves us, the visionaries who inspire us and the workforce that keeps us moving safely, Schindler said. Part of Schindler’s 150th Anniversary celebration in 2024, National Elevate Day also recognizes and encourages a growing interest in the skilled trades among young people. According to National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII), elevators and escalators carry passengers more than 2.8 billion miles each year in the U.S. — nearly 26 times the distance traveled by all rail and air traffic combined. “NEII is delighted to celebrate National Elevate Day for its first observance,” NEII Executive Director Amy Blankenbiller said. “Thank you to Schindler for creating an opportunity where we can all celebrate the vertical-transportation industry.”
