Schindler Olayan will provide a total of 293 elevators, escalators and moving walks to phase one of the new multi-purpose project The Avenues – Riyadh in the Saudi Arabian capital, which will cover an area of over 1.8 million m2. Schindler Olayan will provide 134 Schindler 5500 elevators (including 45 passenger elevators and 89 service elevators), one Schindler 2600 elevator, 150 Schindler 9300 escalators and eight Schindler 9500 moving walks. All units will be cloud-connected, which will allow them to be monitored 24/7. Schindler ActionBoard will provide the customer with a real-time overview of all elevator and escalator activity, making it easier to prioritize tasks — whether it is performance checks, planning maintenance, data-exchange or monitoring of general statistics. Once completed, The Avenues – Riyadh will be home to the largest commercial mall in the Middle East — which alone will cover an area of 388,000 m2 — and comprise five multipurpose towers that will house hotels, residential apartments and offices. The design blends traditional Salmani architecture with modern design and has already obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the American Green Building Council.
