Senior Housing Project Faces Elevator Issues

Turtle Woods, a 67-unit senior housing project in Massachusetts, recently had its original elevator go offline and not return to service, given the age of the elevator and availability of parts, The Salem News reports. The building and elevator are from the 1990s, and the components needed are no longer available. The project will see a modernization that is expected to take weeks. To mitigate this, the housing property will have extra staff on hand to move resident belongings up and down the stairs, as necessary, and will have a crew from Beauport Ambulance on call at all times in the event that someone has to be moved up or down the stairs. Additionally, there are plans to install a chair lift.
