Several VT Companies Among World’s Most Sustainable 2024

Several vertical-transportation (VT) companies are on the World’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2024 list produced by TIME and data firm Statista. Switzerland-based Schindler, which ranked No. 123 on the list of 500, said when announcing the honor in June that it is proud of the achievement, but pointed out its score of 68.79 (out of 100) “shows the distance even the most dedicated companies have to go to be truly sustainable.” The rigorous methodology employed by TIME and Statistica in making the rankings included being signed on to a respected climate program such as the Science Based Targets initiative and having high scores from CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project). In addition to Schindler, VT companies on the list include Hitachi of Japan at 29 with a score of 76.60, Italy’s Prysmian Group with at 42 with a score of 75.76, KONE of Finland at 125 with a score of 68.67 and U.S.-headquartered Otis at 438 with a score of 54.98.
