Smartrise Engineering Inc. of Irving, Texas, recently provided a total of six of its C4 traction controllers to elevator systems serving three senior-living towers in Chicago. Smartrise provided two C4 controllers each at Lake Vista apartments at 1440 South Indiana Avenue, a 21-story building boasting views of downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan; Judge Fisher Apartments, a 21-story building built in 1965 and renovated in 2006 in the Edgewater neighborhood; and Ella Flagg Young Apartments, a high-rise senior-living facility in Uptown. Here, the Smartrise C4 controllers were outfitted with manual-rescue capability so mechanics can access the top of the car and manually release the brake in the event of a power outage. “We’re proud to provide this extra layer of safety to the residents of Ella Flagg Young Apartments,” Smartrise stated.
