The 61-year-old son of a once-prominent NYC restaurateur died on March 18 as a result of falling two to three floors from an escalator, the New York Post was among outlets to report. Ernest Vogliano “was riding the escalator railing” at the Madison Square Garden multipurpose arena in Midtown Manhattan after a New York Rangers ice hockey game when the incident occurred. Vogliano was transported to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The city medical examiner said Vogliano died from blunt force trauma and ruled the death an accident. Vogliano’s widow has hired legal counsel and contends “she was kept in the dark about how it all happened.” Vogliano’s late father, Ernest Sr., was the longtime owner of Il Vagabondo, an Italian restaurant on East 62nd Street favored by celebrities. The younger Vogliano owned a local web design firm.
