Technical Safety BC Seeks Survey Responses

Technical Safety BC is asking the elevating devices industry, building owners and other interested groups to provide feedback on:

  • adopting the most recent editions of elevator codes,
  • adopting a code series new to British Columbia (BC) for mast-climbing transport platforms for the construction industry,
  • updating the process for non-mechanics to access elevator hoistways and
  • formalizing additional changes into regulation.

The survey closes on November 3. In an email to members, Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) Executive Director Catharine Bothwell encouraged members to reply to the survey right away, emphasizing the need for responses. Following the survey’s closing on November 3, Technical Safety BC will publish a report on the feedback it received. Then, it will post final outcomes of the consultation, including the effective dates of the new codes, if adopted.
