TEI Group tells ELEVATOR WORLD it provided an elevator system that includes two overhead gearless units for The Orchard, an 811-ft, 69-story residential building designed by Perkins Eastman at 43-14 Queens Street that New York YIMBY notes is the new tallest building in the NYC borough of Queens. Alternately addressed as 27-48 Jackson Avenue, The Orchard is being developed by BLDG Management Co. and will yield 824 rental units (including 200 affordable), 13,000-ft2 of retail, 100,000-ft2 of amenities and a two-story parking garage with more than 200 spaces. Notably, the top of the parking structure will boast the largest privately owned landscaped roof deck in NYC at more than 1.5 acres. That area will include a pickleball court, an outdoor movie screen, fitness areas, barbecue grilling stations, a dog park and outdoor play area for kids. The Orchard topped out this month, ahead of anticipated completion in 2026.
