Texas Airport Launches Escalator Safety Campaign

The Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport has launched a new safety campaign to reduce preventable escalator accidents that can cause injuries, disrupt travel plans and take equipment out of service, MSN reports. Common causes for escalator falls include carrying heavy bags or more than one bag, pre-existing balance issues, not holding the handrails, turning around, multitasking and inattention. The campaign encourages those with multiple bags or wheeled items to use elevators along with other safety tips that include watching the direction of the moving step, facing forward with one hand on the handrail and more.
