TK Elevator’s (TKE) Color Index System, developed in South Korea, has won an international Red Dot Design Award for design concepts in the User Experience category, TKE announced on August 30. The system uses a different color to indicate each floor of an underground carpark elevator system, which enables passengers to remember on which floor they parked. “Using colors in addition to numbers makes it easier and more intuitive for passengers to remember where they parked, and the colors of the elevator cabin, lobby and user interface are unified to reinforce users’ perceptions and maintain consistency in design,” TKE Korea design team observed. TKE Asia-Pacific CEO Jurgen Bohler said the company is already known in Korea for its technically advanced products, and that “this award showcases our expertise in aesthetic and experiential solutions that put our customers and their needs at the forefront.”
