TK Elevator (TKE) (India) replaced existing units with 10 of its heavy-duty tugela escalators in six stations of the Kolkata Metro, serving the city of Kolkata in West Bengal, India, outlets including The Indian Express’ CRN report. In support of the government’s “Make in India” initiative, the escalators were manufactured locally at the TKE facility in Pune. India’s first and largest rapid transit system, the Kolkata Metro sees a daily footfall of more than 700,000 and is one of the system’s busiest. TKE (India) says it intends to continue to supply its expertise and products to support both new and revitalization projects across India. “By promoting localized R&D and manufacturing, we are more committed than ever to empower the local economy and provide prompt and world-class support to India’s development with continued innovation and state-of-the-art technology,” TKE (India) CEO and Managing Director Manish Mehan said.
