TK Elevator (TKE) Korea won a prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2024 in the Autonomous category for its “Intelligent Elevator Cleaning System” concept, TKE announced on July 23. Utilizing AI, the system design would detect the presence of a passenger and activate its cleaning mechanism during elevator downtime. The novel concept marks the fifth Red Dot Award for TKE. Powered by energy regenerated from the elevator, the concept would ensure continuous cleanliness without disrupting passengers or elevator operations. With post-pandemic attention to hygiene, a clean and pleasant elevator interior is essential for property owners, managers and passengers, TKE observed. TKE CEO Asia-Pacific Jürgen Böhler said the Red Dot recognition “showcases our expertise in aesthetic and experiential solutions that continue to move beyond conventional thinking.”
