Plans for transit-oriented developments (TODs) continue to multiply in the Toronto suburb of Brampton with the latest proposal from Syra Group and Doracin Terra Strategies Ltd.: a 39-story tower that includes 523 residences on what is now a surface parking lot at 123 Railroad Street, UrbanToronto reports. Designed by ZO1 Architects, the plan also includes a six-story podium, preservation of two, existing six-story residential buildings and more than 400 parking spaces on three underground levels. The source observes that, with only three elevators serving the building (which translates to one elevator per 174 units), elevator wait times may be long. Convenient to the Brampton GO railway station, the projects is joined by at least five others of up to 54 stories, proving that “123 Railroad is not alone in its vertical ambitions for the area.”
