Toronto Tower Proposal Gets Taller Following MTSA Designation

Proposed tower designed by Wallman Architects for Osmington Gerofsky Development Corp and Alterra in Toronto’s Willowdale neighborhood

Following the Canadian province of Ontario establishing so-called Major Transit Station Areas (MTSAs), a plan for a residential tower at 2810 Bayview Avenue in Toronto has evolved from a previous developer’s proposal for a seven-story building to one reaching 42 stories, Urban Toronto reports. A short walk south of the Sheppard Line 4 subway station in Willowdale, the area surrounding the Bayview station has been designated an MTSA. New developers Osmington Gerofsky Development Corp. and the Alterra Group of Cos. has proposed a 138.33-m-tall tower with a six-story podium that would include 539 residential units and 1,887 m2 of amenity space. There would also be three underground levels of parking served by an elevator, as well as four elevators serving the tower. This translates to approximately one elevator for every 135 units, which could make the structure under-elevatored, the source noted.
