Trio Elevators Co-Owner Launches E-Motorcycle Business

A co-owner of Ahmedabad, India-based Trio Elevators has ventured into the electric vehicle market with an indigenous e-motorcycle that can travel a maximum of 180 km on a single charge, The Indian Express reports. Chirag Patel, managing director of ABZO Motors, the brand under which the e-motorcycles are being sold between Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2.22 lakh, said manufacturing these motorcycles is his family business. The company is outsourcing a 72 V 70Ah Lithium-ion battery from a local manufacturer and offers the motorcycle in four colors. The company can manufacture 750 units per month at a newly built facility on Kadi-Thol road and expects to make the first deliveries in October. Before finalizing plans, the family visited Tesla’s manufacturing unit in the U.S. in 2019. The motorcycle has been certified by the Automobile Research Association of India and can touch a maximum speed of 85 kph.
